Guido Viaro

Guido Viaro was a great modern artist whose work depicts wildlife in Paraná with a great deal of attention to detail. In the beginning, he used quite an impressionist language, moving on to a definite expressionist interpretation, concentrating on the landscape which involves the man faced with the social fact.

Not only was Viaro a painter, but he was also a great teacher. He was a pioneer of teaching art to children and opened the Centre of Art for the Young (Centro Juvenil de Artes Plásticas). As well as that, he taught several generations of artists from Paraná at the Art School Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná and at his own studio.

In his paintings, he analysed the social aspect in urban and rural scenes and in religious subjects with expressionist intensity. However, it is in his drawings and engravings where there is great concern over theme, the actual painting and techniques.
